Auto High Beam Assist (AHBA) – JLR Retrofit
Our Auto High Beam Assist (AHBA) retrofit delivers factory-spec automatic high beam control for compatible Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. This ADAS upgrade uses a windscreen-mounted forward-facing camera to monitor ambient light and oncoming traffic, then switches high beam illumination without manual driver input. Our package includes hardware fitting, full JLR diagnostic coding and system calibration to integrate AHBA natively into your vehicle’s ECU and instrument cluster.
Product Overview
Auto High Beam Assist (AHBA) is a genuine Jaguar Land Rover advanced lighting assistance system engineered to improve night-time visibility and reduce glare for other road users. The forward-facing camera, integrated into the rear-view mirror assembly, continuously scans the road ahead. The system identifies headlamps from oncoming vehicles and tail lamps from preceding traffic. It also evaluates ambient street lighting levels to determine when high beam operation is appropriate. The system activates high beam automatically when ambient light falls below the defined threshold and no other light sources are detected. It immediately dips to low beam when it recognises active vehicle lighting ahead. High beam resumes once those light sources exit the camera detection zone.
Our lr-retrofit AHBA retrofit replicates the factory JLR operating logic. You will see the official AHBA tell-tale on the instrument cluster when the system is active. The driver retains full override control through the vehicle’s existing lighting stalk, which maintains the original JLR user interface. This retrofit works alongside your vehicle’s existing headlamp hardware and body control module after successful coding and calibration.
System Operation & Technical Specification
The AHBA camera module captures real-time visual data and sends processed signals to the vehicle lighting control module over the JLR CAN network. The system will only enable automatic high beam functions when the vehicle travels above the calibrated speed threshold and ambient light conditions satisfy activation criteria. The camera differentiates between vehicle lighting and static roadside light sources such as street lamps, road signs and reflective markers. This intelligence prevents unnecessary high beam deactivation in lit urban environments.
Correct windscreen condition is critical for reliable AHBA operation. The camera requires an unobstructed view through the designated windscreen zone. Windscreen damage, tint film or dirt within the camera field of view will degrade detection performance. Our technicians validate camera alignment and complete end-to-end functional testing after installation. We verify high beam activation, low beam dip response and instrument cluster warning indicators before handover.
