JLR Advanced Tow Assist
Product Overview
JLR Advanced Tow Assist removes the complexity of reversing trailers, caravans and horseboxes. You set your intended trailer path using the Terrain Response rotary dial while the vehicle manages steering input automatically. The infotainment screen shows your current trailer trajectory and your selected target trajectory with adjustable width settings matched to your trailer dimensions. You maintain throttle and brake control at all times, so you keep full authority over vehicle speed and safety. The system calculates real-time steering angles based on rear camera feed, hitch angle data and CAN network signals to hold your chosen reverse line accurately.
This feature works exclusively in reverse gear and stays active only when all system enable conditions pass. The software validates rear camera signal, tow hitch status, door and tailgate latch states and the absence of conflicting active systems such as All Terrain Progress Control. You adjust trailer width parameters directly through the touchscreen menu to match narrow or wide trailers. The cluster and infotainment provide clear status prompts so you recognise when Advanced Tow Assist engages, pauses or requires driver intervention. The finished system behaves identically to vehicles fitted with this option from the JLR production line.
Technical Specification & Package Scope
- CCF configuration edit and Pathfinder feature enablement for Advanced Tow Assist
- Tow hitch control module programming and integration with rear surround camera system
- HMI activation for trailer trajectory graphics, setup menus and driver status notifications
- Validation of steering actuator communication and closed-loop reverse steering logic
- Full post-coding system test, DTC clearing and end-to-end trailer manoeuvre verification
- Function demonstration covering trailer width setup, rotary controller operation and system exit conditions
This retrofit supports compatible Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery and Defender platforms. We review your VIN before work starts to confirm mandatory hardware including electric deployable tow bar, rear surround camera and Terrain Response 2 rotary controller. Vehicles missing these base components cannot support Advanced Tow Assist, and our pre-order VIN check confirms eligibility upfront. The upgrade preserves all factory towing limits, stability control routines and dealer service compatibility.
Coding & Validation Workflow
Our JLR-trained technicians connect via DOIP diagnostic interface and capture a full backup of your original CCF file. They enable the Advanced Tow Assist feature lines and flash matching calibration parameters to the steering control module, tow body module and infotainment ECU. They cycle ignition states to register the new feature set across the vehicle CAN topology. The team tests activation, trailer width adjustment, trajectory rendering and automatic steering response during reverse manoeuvres. They verify all warning messages and disengagement triggers operate to JLR engineering standards. They clear residual diagnostic trouble codes and run a final live camera and steering feedback test before handover.
Why Choose Our JLR Advanced Tow Assist Retrofit
We use genuine JLR calibration datasets instead of modified third-party tuning files. Our coding leaves your existing ADAS, terrain and towing stability systems fully functional and conflict-free. You gain a powerful towing aid that reduces stress during tight-site reversing and improves safety for frequent caravan, trailer and heavy-load users. This upgrade maximises the value of your factory tow bar and camera hardware. Submit your VIN today to confirm compatibility and secure your Advanced Tow Assist activation service.
