Technical Operation
The Parking Aid sensors transmit ultrasonic pulses and measure the reflected signal from nearby objects. The control module converts this data into distance information and sends it to the infotainment system over the medium-speed CAN bus. You hear an audible tone and see a visual display of obstacle proximity. The tone frequency increases as the distance decreases.
Park Assist uses the same sensor network plus additional side sensors to identify suitable parking spaces. The control module calculates the optimal steering trajectory and sends commands to the electric power steering rack. You follow the Touchscreen instructions for gear changes and braking. The system steers the vehicle accurately into the space without driver input on the steering wheel.
Our technicians programme both control modules using JLR diagnostic equipment. They update the vehicle configuration file, calibrate the sensors and test the complete system against JLR factory tolerances.
