Reprogramming the Start/Stop System – JLR Retrofit
Our Reprogramming the Start/Stop System service updates the factory JLR start-stop operating logic through professional CCF and powertrain module programming. This software modification adjusts the default behaviour of the automatic engine stop-start system. Standard JLR vehicles reset the start-stop function back to active every time the driver restarts the ignition. Our reprogramming enables the vehicle to retain your last selected state, either enabled or disabled, across ignition cycles. The service requires no new hardware and preserves all other factory powertrain and battery management systems.
Product Overview
The JLR intelligent start-stop system reduces engine idle time to lower fuel consumption and emissions. Factory vehicle configuration resets the system to active by default on every ignition power cycle. Drivers must manually disable the feature each time they start the vehicle. Our reprogramming edits the relevant parameters within the Vehicle Configuration File and ECM to change this default behaviour. The system remembers your last used setting and applies that setting automatically on the next engine start. You maintain full manual control of the start-stop switch at all times, and you can toggle the function on or off whenever you need.
This modification works within the native JLR module architecture. It does not overwrite core engine maps, battery monitoring logic or alternator control routines. All safety thresholds for battery state of charge, engine temperature, brake pressure and cabin climate remain fully intact. The start-stop system continues to use the original factory criteria to trigger engine stop events when the feature is active. Instrument cluster messages and warning indicators operate exactly as designed by JLR after programming completes.
Technical Operation & Specification
The start-stop system relies on shared data between the ECM, BCM, battery monitoring module and instrument cluster over the vehicle CAN network. The ECM evaluates multiple live sensor inputs before it allows engine shutdown. Our coding targets only the CCF parameter that controls start-stop default state memory. We do not alter any of the safety limits that protect the starter motor, battery and powertrain components.
Our technicians start with a full pre-programming diagnostic scan. They capture the original vehicle CCF and ECM data and record any existing diagnostic trouble codes. After we write the updated configuration, we complete a read-back check to confirm the new parameters save correctly. We perform multiple ignition cycle tests to verify the start-stop system retains your selected setting consistently. We run a full system health check and clear any temporary DTC entries. A module sleep cycle confirms the updated configuration stays stored in non-volatile memory.
Service Package Scope
- Pre-programming full vehicle diagnostic scan and backup of original CCF and ECM configuration
- OBD programming to modify start-stop default state and enable memory functionality
- Configuration read-back validation to confirm successful parameter write
- Multiple ignition cycle functional testing of the updated start-stop behaviour
- Full DTC clearing and end-to-end powertrain system health verification
- Secure storage of original factory configuration file for future restoration
Compatible JLR Vehicles
Our Reprogramming the Start/Stop System service supports most modern JLR platforms including Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Evoque, Jaguar XE, XF, F-Pace, F-Type and I-Pace. Submit your VIN to our technical team to confirm platform compatibility and validate the supported CCF parameters for your engine variant. Some older JLR control modules do not support this memory function and are not eligible for the service.
