How JLR Wireless Device Charging Works
JLR uses the Wireless Device Charging Module (WDCM). The WDCM contains a Qi-compliant charging coil. When the vehicle ignition is on, the module sends a ping signal. A compatible smartphone responds and begins charging. The module monitors battery temperature and foreign object detection. It communicates with the Body Control Module over the LIN bus. This integration allows the vehicle to display charging status on the touchscreen and to protect the battery.
