2.0 Ingenium Petrol P200 to P250 Factory Upgrade
Jaguar Land Rover produces the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine in multiple factory states of tune—P160, P200, and P250—from a shared AJ200 core architecture. The P200 and P250 variants use the same engine block, cylinder head, fuel injection hardware, and cooling circuit. JLR differentiates these two variants primarily through Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration and Car Configuration File (CCF) parameters. This product page explains how the P250 factory calibration upgrade works, what it changes, and why it preserves the engineering integrity JLR designed into the Ingenium petrol platform.
One Engine Architecture, Two Factory Outputs
JLR calibrates the PCM to deliver distinct power and torque ceilings for each market position. The P200 calibration produces 200PS (147kW) at 5,500 rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1,200 and 4,000 rpm. The P250 calibration raises those same parameters to 249PS (183kW) at 5,500 rpm and 365Nm between 1,300 and 4,500 rpm. The engine block, cylinder head, and primary rotating assembly remain common across both variants. The performance difference lives within the software architecture: boost pressure targets, fuel injection timing, ignition advance maps, and torque limitation tables. This upgrade activates the factory P250 calibration through the same programming pathways JLR uses on the production line.
What the P250 Calibration Delivers
The P250 factory software unlocks the full performance envelope of the Ingenium petrol engine. Power rises by 49PS and torque rises by 45Nm, producing a measurable improvement in real-world drivability. In the Range Rover Evoque, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h shortens from 8.6 seconds in the P200 to 7.6 seconds in the P250. Top speed rises from 216 km/h to 230 km/h. The P250 calibration also shifts the torque plateau upward in the rev range, extending peak torque availability to 4,500 rpm and giving the engine a broader, more responsive power band for overtaking and highway merging. The 48V MHEV system and the ZF automatic transmission synchronise with the upgraded parameters to maintain smooth torque delivery across all driving conditions.
Genuine JLR Calibration, Not an Aftermarket Remap
This upgrade uses the factory P250 calibration data that JLR validates and preloads within the vehicle’s firmware. The process flashes the official PCM calibration and updates the CCF to activate the P250 powertrain flags, exactly as the production line configures a factory P250 vehicle. The upgrade retains full dealer diagnostic access through JLR Pathfinder and TOPIx, preserves over-the-air (SOTA) update compatibility, and maintains factory emission compliance. The calibration generates no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and produces no limp-mode conditions. All safety limits, thermal protection protocols, and catalyst protection logic remain untouched. The calibration is fully reversible: the original P200 software can be restored at any time because the process changes only software within the engine control module.
Engineered for the AJ200 Architecture
The Ingenium petrol engine—designated AJ200—uses a 1,997cc displacement, an 83.0mm bore, and a 92.3mm stroke, with dual independent variable valve timing (DIVCT) and a compression ratio of 10.5:1. The twin-scroll turbocharging system and high-pressure direct injection hardware operate within the same engineering limits across the P200 and P250 calibrations. The P250 calibration raises boost pressure targets to approximately 1.6 bar absolute (compared with 1.3 bar in the P200) and extends injector open time to support the increased airflow demand. JLR validated these parameters for the AJ200 hardware, and the factory calibration operates entirely within those established boundaries.

Compatibility and Process
This upgrade applies to JLR vehicles fitted with the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine in P200 specification, including Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Velar, Defender, and select Jaguar XE, XF, and F-PACE variants. The procedure uses the vehicle’s ENET diagnostic port with the JLR Enet WiFi adapter for DoIP programming. You supply the VIN for compatibility verification, and the calibration flashes remotely over a secure connection. The process reads and backs up the original CCF before writing the P250 configuration, ensuring full reversibility and leaving no aftermarket modifications in the vehicle’s software architecture. The result is a genuine factory P250 specification, activated through authenticated JLR engineering access.
