JLR engineers designed ClearSight to solve a common problem. When you load the boot to the roof or carry rear-seat passengers, the traditional mirror view becomes blocked. ClearSight uses a dedicated rear-facing camera to send a high-definition image directly to the mirror. You simply flip the tab on the mirror to switch between the optical mirror and the live camera feed. The view remains clear in rain, snow or darkness because the camera sits high in the roof pod, well away from road spray and rear window obstruction.
Technical Specifications
The mirror housing contains a high-resolution LCD screen behind the glass. The screen displays a 170-degree wide-angle image with no blind spots from the rear pillars. The camera module connects to the mirror via a high-bandwidth video cable, and the mirror also connects to the vehicle’s CAN bus for reverse signal, ambient light and ignition status. This integration ensures the display activates automatically when you start the engine and dims correctly at night.
The HomeLink module sits within the same mirror frame. Three HomeLink buttons on the mirror face learn the radio frequency codes from your existing garage door or gate remote. You can programme them in under a minute using the simple on-mirror procedure. HomeLink works with most European and American garage door systems, including Hormann, LiftMaster and Chamberlain. The buttons also support home lighting and smart home triggers. You no longer need a separate remote clipped to your sun visor.
