Configurable Dynamic Mode Retrofit Kit
What is Configurable Dynamic Mode?
Configurable Dynamic Mode (CDM) is a JLR proprietary system that allows the driver to independently adjust throttle response, steering weight, suspension damping, and powertrain characteristics via a rotary controller or touchscreen. Originally offered as a factory option on high‑spec vehicles, CDM transforms driving dynamics from Eco economy through Comfort touring to full Dynamic attack – and everything in between.
This retrofit kit brings full CDM functionality to LR3, LR4, Range Rover L322/L405, Range Rover Sport L494, Discovery 4, Evoque L538, and select Jaguar models (XF, XE, F‑Pace). It is a direct CANbus integration – no splicing, no aftermarket ECUs. The vehicle’s existing Adaptive Dynamics, Terrain Response 2, and powertrain modules are re‑enabled to use the full mode map originally locked by trim level.

Check your VIN: Use our free compatibility checker to confirm your vehicle supports CDM retrofit. Most models with Adaptive Dynamics (option code 048AC) are compatible.
Why Upgrade to CDM?
Full Dynamic Control
Switch between Eco for daily commuting, Comfort for motorway cruising, and Dynamic for spirited driving. Each mode recalibrates transmission shift patterns, throttle pedal mapping, and steering assist.
Terrain Match
Access Snow, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl modes that optimize traction, differential locking, and suspension lift – perfect for off‑road adventures.
Adaptive Damping
When paired with CCD/ASPC, CDM adjusts magnetorheological damper rates in real time. In Dynamic mode the suspension firms up 20% for reduced body roll.
OTA Updates
Our kit includes lifetime firmware updates via the LRR mobile app. Future modes or parameter tweaks are pushed automatically.
Installation Overview
- Prepare vehicle: Disconnect battery negative terminal. Remove centre console trim (LR4/L405: 3x T20 screws). Locate the Terrain Response 2 module behind the HVAC unit.
- Replace selector switch: Unplug existing TR2 switch (if fitted) and install our rotary CDM controller. For vehicles without a selector, our CANbus bridge module provides a 12‑button control pad that fits into the switch blank.
- Connect CANbus bridge: Tap into the HS‑CAN (CAN‑H pin 6, CAN‑L pin 14 on OBD‑II). Our bridge module includes a Y‑harness – no cutting required.
- Flash calibration via OBD: Plug the OBD programmer into the diagnostic port. Run the LRR software (Windows/Mac) – it reads your VIN, applies the CDM CCF changes, and writes the new mode maps. Takes 10 minutes.
- Test and reassemble: Reconnect battery, start engine, turn rotary switch – you’ll see modes appear on the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Dynamic mode engages red ambient lighting and performance display.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this void my JLR warranty?
No – the kit is fully reversible. The CANbus bridge does not store permanent modifications. If removed, the vehicle reverts to factory behaviour. No dealer diagnostic will flag this as a tamper event.
Does my vehicle need Adaptive Dynamics hardware?
Yes – CDM requires the ability to adjust damping and steering. Vehicles without CCD/ASPC will still gain throttle/transmission/steering mapping changes but will lose suspension adjustment. Check compatibility with your VIN.
Can I keep Terrain Response 1 (LR3)?
This kit upgrades TR1 vehicles to TR2 functionality. If you prefer the original TR1 layout, we offer a separate “TR1‑style CDM” module that adds Eco, Comfort, Dynamic while preserving rock crawl and sand settings.
Do I need any special tools?
Basic interior trim removal tools (plastic pry bar), T20/25 Torx bits, a 10mm socket for battery terminal, and a Windows laptop (or Mac with Parallels) for the OBD flash. All hardware supplied.
