Different Type of Seats Installation — OEM JLR Seat Retrofit & Pathfinder Coding
JLR builds each seat variant to a distinct engineering standard. A manual base seat uses mechanical rails and a basic occupancy sensor; a 24-way climate seat integrates DSM and PSM controllers, LIN-bus communication, NTC thermal sensors and SRS squib monitoring. This installation service covers the full spectrum — from electric conversion and heated-ventilated climate seats to memory, performance, massage and executive rear configurations — with genuine mounting hardware, OEM harness integration and dealer-level Pathfinder DOIP coding.
Seat Types We Install
We install every major JLR seat configuration. Each installation follows the original electrical and mechanical layout for your specific platform, so the finished result behaves as a factory build rather than an aftermarket addition.
Electric Power Seats (10/12/20-way). We replace manual rails with motorised tracks and connect the seat to the DSM or PSM over the LIN-CAN network. The system delivers fore-aft, cushion height, squab tilt and backrest recline adjustment. Memory-capable frames accept position sensors and door-module switch packs for one-touch recall.
Heated & Ventilated Climate Seats. Climate seats require more than a heating mat. We install the correct perforated foam, ventilation blowers, peltier heating-cooling matrices and NTC thermistor sensors, then code the DSM and PSM to recognise the new hardware profile. The vehicle interface displays independent heat and cool controls, and the system respects JLR thermal-protection interlocks.
Memory Seats with Key-Fob Sync. We fit OEM position-feedback sensors, the memory switch pack and the under-seat module, then synchronise three driver profiles with your key fobs through Pathfinder. The seat recalls fore-aft, height, backrest angle and mirror position with millimetre precision.
Performance & SVR Seats. Performance seats use reinforced framing and specific side-airbag mounting points. We match the ACU configuration to the new squib-resistance values and verify bolster clearance against the centre console for your chassis.
Massage & Executive Rear / Captain Seats. Massage seats integrate pneumatic bladders and a Gateway-controlled pump. Rear executive conversions add individual captain seats with correct floor brackets, centre console trims and rear climate synchronisation.
Why an Uncoded Seat Swap Fails — and How We Prevent It
A mechanical bolt-on swap does not work on modern DOIP-platform JLR vehicles. The DSM (driver seat module), PSM (passenger seat module), ACU (airbag control unit) and OCS (occupant classification system) all read seat-type-specific configuration data from the vehicle’s Car Configuration File. Installing higher-grade donor seats without matching CCF flags and module adaptation produces persistent SRS airbag DTCs, disables heating, cooling and memory functions, and triggers instrument-cluster warning lamps.
Our process closes that gap. We use certified Pathfinder DOIP programming to update the CCF build-file and adapt the DSM, PSM, BCM, ACU and GWM parameters, declaring the new seat hardware to the network. This step unlocks the comfort and safety functions your new seats support and eliminates cross-spec conflicts before they reach the driver.
JLR Technical Installation Workflow
- Baseline diagnostic scan. We archive the current CCF, DSM/PSM status and SRS fault memory before removal, documenting the original configuration for reversibility.
- SRS depowering. We disconnect the battery ground and wait a minimum of 10 minutes to deplete the Restraints Control Module backup supply before touching any seat connector.
- Torque-compliant mounting. We secure seat tracks and frames to JLR workshop specifications — front seat track bolts to 40 Nm, front seat frame nuts to 25 Nm and rear seat backrest fasteners to 45 Nm where applicable.
- OEM harness integration. We route the seat harness along factory cable channels and mate OEM-specification terminals, referencing genuine JLR loom part numbers such as LR145917, LR054139 and LR102932 to confirm connector family compatibility.
- Pathfinder DOIP CCF programming. We update the build-file and adapt the DSM, PSM, BCM, ACU and GWM parameters to declare the new seat hardware to the network.
- OCS and SRS recalibration. We calibrate occupant-classification weight thresholds and verify side-airbag and pretensioner communication with the ACU. The SRS lamp extinguishes only after successful adaptation.
- Functional validation. We cycle every motor, heating and ventilation output, memory preset and massage programme, clear all DTCs and issue a diagnostic completion record.
Compatible Jaguar and Land Rover Models
We install these seat types across the JLR range, including:
- Range Rover L405 and L460
- Range Rover Sport L494 and L461
- Range Rover Velar L560

Compatibility depends on seat-frame generation, airbag generation and existing floor-harness provisions. Share your VIN before ordering and our team confirms the correct bracket adaptors, wiring parts and CCF flags for your specific vehicle.
What the Service Includes
- VIN verification and seat-frame compatibility assessment
- Genuine or OEM-specification mounting brackets and adaptors for cross-variant installation
- OEM-grade wiring pigtails, terminals and connector adaptors where the floor harness requires adaptation
- Pathfinder DOIP CCF programming and DSM/PSM/BCM/ACU/GWM parameter adaptation
- OCS recalibration and SRS functional verification
- Full diagnostic completion record and handover documentation
Send your VIN and preferred seat type through the enquiry form. A JLR retrofit technician confirms compatibility, provides a fixed quotation and schedules your installation with a full diagnostic report on completion. Every installation preserves factory OCS algorithms, LIN-CAN stability and dealer service access for SOTA updates and resale.
