JLR calls this system Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS). The system uses low-frequency antennas in the front doors and rear bumper. When you touch a door handle sensor, the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) wakes the smart key. The smart key then responds with an encrypted rolling code. The Central Junction Box (CJB) validates that code and unlocks the correct door. Press the start button and the KVM authorises the immobiliser handshake. This gives you seamless entry and engine start without touching the key fob.
