JLR Reverse Traffic Detection — Blind Spot System Retrofit for Land Rover and Jaguar
We supply and configure a complete Reverse Traffic Detection retrofit for your Jaguar Land Rover vehicle. The system uses the rear corner radar modules from the Blind Spot System to watch for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians that approach from either side while you reverse. It warns you through the door mirror indicators, an audible alert and a message in your instrument cluster. Every kit matches your model year and infotainment build, and we configure the system to your VIN before you drive away.
Why Add Reverse Traffic Detection
Reversing out of a parking space, a driveway or a loading bay limits your view in both directions. A vehicle crossing behind you, a cyclist travelling along the road or a pedestrian walking past can all sit outside your mirror coverage. Reverse Traffic Detection closes that gap with continuous radar coverage and clear, timely warnings.
When you install the system, you gain:
- Radar detection on both sides of the vehicle, active as soon as you select reverse.
- Warning indicators built into the door mirror glass, matching factory appearance.
- An audible alert that draws your attention without distracting you.
- A cluster message that identifies the direction of the approaching object.
- Full integration with your rear camera and park aid display, where your platform supports it.
- No aftermarket displays and no visible wiring, which preserves your factory interior finish.
Owners value the system in busy car parks, on residential streets and at any location where visibility remains limited. The retrofit also strengthens your vehicle’s specification for future resale, because buyers increasingly expect modern driver assistance features. Because Reverse Traffic Detection forms part of the Blind Spot System, the same installation also enables Blind Spot Assist on vehicles that do not already carry it.
Compatibility and Vehicle Coverage
We support a wide range of JLR vehicles across the major model lines, including:
- Land Rover Defender (L663), Discovery (L462), Discovery Sport (L550), Range Rover Evoque (L551), Range Rover Velar (L560), Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
- Jaguar F-Pace (X761), XF (X260), XE (X760), I-Pace (X590), E-Pace (X540) and F-Type.
Most vehicles built with the correct rear bumper sensor brackets and mirror connector pins accept the retrofit directly. We check your VIN against the JLR parts catalogue and confirm whether your vehicle carries the required wiring provisions. Where your build lacks those provisions, we supply a vehicle-specific harness that connects the new modules to the existing network.
How the Process Works
We keep the retrofit organised and predictable:
- VIN verification: You send your 17-character VIN. We identify your model, build year, rear bumper specification and mirror type.
- Kit preparation: We assemble the correct left and right radar modules, mirror indicators, brackets and harness for your vehicle.
- Installation: You fit the modules behind the rear bumper, connect the harness and replace the mirror glass with the indicator version.
- Configuration: We apply the Car Configuration File update for your VIN and activate the Reverse Traffic Detection menu entries through the JLR diagnostic platform.
- Calibration and test: You confirm correct operation with a short reversing test, and the system reports live status through the cluster.
Our technical team stays available throughout the process, and we answer questions at any stage.
