Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Jaguar Land Rover builds Lane Departure Warning into the forward-camera driver-assistance architecture. Many vehicles leave the factory with the required IPMA forward camera already fitted but with the LDW software flag disabled in the Car Configuration File. LR-Retrofit activates the factory system by coding the correct CCF values against your VIN. You gain steering-wheel vibration alerts and a cluster warning whenever you drift out of lane without indicating, with no aftermarket hardware and no dashboard warning lights.
Technical Principle: CCF Parameters and the IPMA Camera
LDW depends on two parameters in the Car Configuration File. The first is LANE DEPARTURE WARNING at CCF address 0x0E87 (Block 0x0E, Byte 8, Bits 7–0). This combined byte sets the LDW state together with the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) state. The second is LaneKeepAssistLDW at CCF address 0x6631 (Block 0x66, Byte 3, Bits 1–0), which controls the core fitted/not-fitted flag.
The Image Processing Module ‘A’ (IPMA) provides the camera data. JLR mounts the forward camera at the windscreen, and the module detects lane markings in real time. LDW works between 50 km/h and 180 km/h on the High Sensitivity setting, and between 60 km/h and 180 km/h on Normal Sensitivity[reference:0]. The system stays inactive below those thresholds to avoid nuisance alerts in urban traffic.
LR-Retrofit edits these CCF values over the OBD-II diagnostic port and writes the change back against your vehicle’s As-Built record. After coding, the IPMA may require a calibration routine so the camera aligns with the vehicle’s centreline. We confirm the required steps from your build data before the session.
Enable and Sensitivity Menus
JLR offers LDW in several CCF configurations. Beyond the basic fitted/not-fitted state, the system can expose an Enable menu and a Sensitivity menu in the driver-assistance settings. The Enable menu gives you an on/off switch. The Sensitivity menu lets you choose between High and Normal warning thresholds[reference:1].
When activating LDW, the CCF byte also carries the TSR state. We match the LDW and TSR values to the hardware and software already present in your vehicle, so the system remains consistent across all driver-assistance features. If your vehicle already runs TSR, we preserve that state; if you want LDW alone, we code the corresponding TSR Not Fitted value.
Hardware Requirement
LDW activation requires the forward-facing IPMA camera to be physically present. Many JLR vehicles carry this camera for Auto High Beam Assist or Traffic Sign Recognition even when LDW remains disabled. We verify your VIN against JLR build records before processing the order. If your vehicle lacks the camera, we offer the Intelligent Forward Camera retrofit kit on a separate product page. That kit supplies the genuine camera module, bracket, and wiring loom, and we include the LDW coding in the package[reference:2].
Compatibility
LDW activation supports Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles across the 2013–2026 model years, subject to camera hardware and CCF data set availability. Confirmed platforms include:
- Range Rover L405 (2013–2022) and L460 (2022–2026)
- Range Rover Sport L494 (2013–2022) and L461 (2022–2026)
- Discovery 5 L462 (2017–2026), Defender L663 (2020–2026), Discovery Sport L550 (2015–2026), Evoque L551 (2019–2026)
- Velar L560 (2017–2026)
- Jaguar XE X760, XF X260, F-Pace X761, E-Pace X540, I-Pace X590, F-Type (2013–2024)
Some earlier instrument clusters impose additional conditions for the LDW menu display. We check your IPC and IPMA part numbers during VIN verification and confirm whether the full menu set will appear or whether the cluster requires an update[reference:3].
Activation Process
- Provide your 17-character VIN at checkout. We verify the IPMA camera, IPC variant, and current CCF state.
- Connect a compatible OBD-II interface. We confirm the correct interface type for your model year.
- Switch the ignition on and maintain a stable internet connection.
- Our technician reads the current CCF, writes the LANE DEPARTURE WARNING and LaneKeepAssistLDW values, and performs the IPMA calibration where the build data requires it.
- We verify the cluster warning light, the steering-wheel vibration alert, and the menu availability before closing the session.
Safety and Operational Notes
LDW assists the driver and does not replace attentive steering control. The system requires clearly visible lane markings; worn, missing, or overlapping road lines reduce performance. Adverse weather, low sun angle, and a dirty windscreen camera area can temporarily suspend LDW functionality. The feature operates as a warning aid, and the driver always remains responsible for lane discipline.
Ordering Information
LR-Retrofit delivers LDW activation as a remote CCF coding service. You receive VIN verification, a confirmed appointment window, and direct technician support. The change is reversible and preserves your factory As-Built consistency. If your vehicle already carries the IPMA camera, order this activation and we will handle the rest. If you need the camera hardware, choose the Intelligent Forward Camera retrofit kit and we will bundle the LDW coding with the installation support.
