JLR Video In Motion — Enable Touchscreen Video for Land Rover and Jaguar
We enable video in motion on your Jaguar Land Rover infotainment system. This configuration removes the factory speed interlock that blanks video playback once your vehicle starts moving. Your passengers then enjoy DVDs, USB media and streaming content through the factory touchscreen on every journey. We tailor the setup to your exact vehicle, so the system keeps every other factory function intact.
Why Drivers and Passengers Choose This Upgrade
Jaguar Land Rover builds a safety interlock into every factory infotainment system. That interlock stops video output as soon as the vehicle exceeds walking pace, which keeps the driver’s attention on the road. The system treats every occupant the same way, however, so your passengers lose their entertainment the moment you pull away.
Our video in motion configuration solves that problem. You gain:
- Continuous video playback through the factory touchscreen while your vehicle is moving.
- Full support for DVD, USB, SD and HDMI sources, depending on your infotainment platform.
- Rear screen entertainment that stays synchronised with the front display.
- Unchanged navigation, audio, climate and phone functions.
- No aftermarket screens, no dashboard clutter and no visible modifications.
- A configuration that preserves your factory warranty position on unrelated components.
Families value the upgrade on long journeys. Rear seat passengers watch films while the front cabin keeps navigation guidance and audio controls fully available. Fleet operators appreciate the same benefit for chauffeur and executive transport work.
Compatibility and Platform Coverage
We support the main JLR infotainment platforms, including InControl Touch, InControl Touch Plus, InControl Touch Pro, Touch Pro Duo and Pivi Pro. The upgrade suits a wide range of models, including:
- Land Rover Defender (L663), Discovery (L462), Discovery Sport (L550), Range Rover Evoque (L551), Range Rover Velar (L560), Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
- Jaguar F-Pace (X761), XF (X260), XE (X760), I-Pace (X590), E-Pace (X540) and F-Type.
We confirm the correct method for your vehicle before we begin. Some platforms accept a configuration change through the vehicle configuration file. Others require a dedicated video interface module that manages the speed signal. We identify the right approach from your VIN and your infotainment build, then we prepare everything in advance.
How the Process Works
We handle the technical work and keep the process straightforward:
- VIN check: You send us your 17-character VIN. We read your vehicle specification and confirm the infotainment platform and software level.
- Method selection: We choose between a configuration-based enable and a hardware interface, depending on your system.
- Configuration or supply: For configuration work, we prepare the settings and guide you through the safe application. For hardware, we supply the correct interface module with a vehicle-specific harness.
- Verification: You test playback with the vehicle in motion and confirm that navigation, audio and phone functions still operate correctly.
Our technical team stays available throughout, so you always know the next step.
JLR Technical Specification
The infotainment head unit receives a vehicle speed signal over the CAN network and compares it against a stored threshold. Once the vehicle passes that threshold, the head unit disables the video output stage while it keeps audio and navigation running. Our configuration adjusts that parameter directly, or the interface module manages the speed input before the head unit reads it. Both approaches leave the factory MOST-bus or Ethernet architecture untouched, and both preserve the original GPS, amplifier and display connections.
For video interface installations, we supply a plug-and-play harness that connects inline with the factory loom. The module draws power from the vehicle supply, requires no cutting of factory wiring, and supports reverse camera, front camera and HDMI input switching where the platform allows.
Legal and Safety Notice
Video in motion serves passengers. Most jurisdictions prohibit a driver from viewing entertainment content while driving, and we expect every customer to follow the law in their country. Please use this feature responsibly and keep your attention on the road at all times.
