Overview

Jaguar Land Rover vehicles with factory infotainment systems block video playback whenever the vehicle moves. This safety restriction prevents the driver from watching video content while driving. However, many owners want to enable video in motion for front passengers, especially on long journeys. Our service removes this restriction through professional module programming — no aftermarket interfaces or wiring modifications required.

We activate video in motion by adjusting the configuration of the Integrated Audio Module (IAM) or the Next Generation Infotainment (NGI) system, depending on your vehicle. The change allows DVD, USB, and HDMI video sources to continue playing when the vehicle shifts out of park. Your navigation, audio, and all other functions remain completely unaffected.

Infotainment Module Reprogramming

The video block originates from a parameter inside the infotainment module. We read the current configuration file from your IAM or NGI system, identify the video-in-motion restriction, and change it from “blocked” to “allowed”. We write the updated configuration back to the module using genuine JLR diagnostic equipment. The process takes only a few minutes and does not affect any other vehicle system.

DVD and USB Playback Activation

Once we remove the restriction, your factory DVD player and USB media inputs continue playing video while the vehicle is in motion. The audio remains synchronised, and the touchscreen controls work exactly as they do when the vehicle is stationary. Passengers can change chapters, select USB files, and adjust playback settings without interruption.

HDMI Input Unlock (where fitted)

Some JLR models include a rear-seat entertainment system with HDMI inputs. We unlock these inputs for motion playback as well. This allows passengers to connect external devices such as streaming sticks, game consoles, or media players and view them on the rear screens while the vehicle moves. The front screen can also display HDMI content if your vehicle supports that input.

Digital TV and Streaming Support

For vehicles fitted with a digital TV tuner or streaming capability, we remove the motion block for those sources too. Passengers can watch live television or streaming content through the vehicle’s data connection while on the move. The system continues to respect the driver distraction settings for navigation and phone functions.

Safety and Legal Disclaimer

We provide this service for passenger entertainment only. Drivers must not watch video content while operating the vehicle. We programme the system so that the video remains active on all screens, including the front display, but we strongly recommend that only passengers view the content. Some jurisdictions restrict video playback on front screens while driving. You remain responsible for complying with local laws and using the feature safely.
