2.0L Ingenium Diesel 150hp → 180hp Factory Version Upgrade
JLR releases the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel (AJ200D) in multiple output tiers from a single engineering foundation. The 150PS variant produces 380Nm. The 180PS variant produces 430Nm. In the majority of applications, both run the same aluminium cylinder block, the same variable-geometry turbocharger, and the same Bosch common-rail fuel system. The 240PS twin-turbo derivative sits apart with different hardware. Between 150PS and 180PS, the difference lives in the engine control module calibration — the torque-request mapping, rail-pressure targets, and boost-control schedules that JLR authors for each output tier.
This factory version upgrade replaces the 150PS calibration with the JLR 180PS factory calibration. You gain 30PS and 50Nm without changing a single mechanical component. You retain the OEM reliability characteristics JLR validated for the 180PS derivative because you run the exact software JLR ships in that derivative.
Hardware Compatibility and the Injector Note
Most 150PS and 180PS Ingenium installations share the same turbocharger, fuel rail, and fuel pump. The standard 180PS calibration runs on those components without issue. One exception exists: certain front-wheel-drive 150PS derivatives left the factory with low-flow injectors calibrated for maximum fuel efficiency. Those injectors may not support the full 180PS fueling demand. We verify your vehicle’s injector part number against the JLR parts catalogue before releasing the file. If your vehicle carries the low-flow hardware, we advise against the factory 180PS calibration and discuss the appropriate alternative.
This factory version upgrade suits the standard 150PS hardware configuration. It is not a Stage 1 performance tune. It converts the engine to the higher factory specification, no more.
ECU Identification and Calibration Pathway
The Ingenium diesel runs Bosch EDC17CP55 in the majority of applications, with the MEDC17_9 software architecture managing the high-pressure fuel rail and the emission-control systems. Certain build phases and markets carry alternate Bosch or Continental MEDC17 variants. We identify your ECU hardware and software version before writing any file. The process installs the factory 180PS calibration matched to your specific ECU and vehicle configuration.
This is a software-only operation. We change only the calibration inside the engine control module. The original 150PS file remains available for restoration at any time. The upgrade is fully reversible, and we supply the original calibration as part of the service.
Factory Specification Comparison
| Parameter | 150PS Ingenium (Stock) | 180PS Factory Specification |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum Power | 150 PS (110 kW) | 180 PS (132 kW) |
| Maximum Torque | 380 Nm | 430 Nm |
| 0–100 km/h | 10.3 seconds | 8.9 seconds |
| Power Gain | — | +30 PS |
| Torque Gain | — | +50 Nm |
These figures reflect the JLR factory specifications for each output tier. The upgrade delivers a 1.4-second reduction in 0–100 km/h acceleration and adds 50Nm of torque across the mid-range — the exact operating band that governs overtaking, gradient response, and loaded acceleration.
What the Factory 180PS Calibration Changes
The 180PS calibration raises the torque ceiling within the validated limits of the standard turbocharger and injection hardware. It extends the usable torque plateau and sharpens part-throttle response by removing the early torque truncation that defines the 150PS map. The engine holds 430Nm from approximately 1,750 rpm through 2,500 rpm, which transforms the vehicle’s behaviour in everyday driving[reference:5]. Motorway gradients that demand a downshift in the 150PS tune become a single-gear pull. The 150PS calibration’s narrow torque band widens into a broad, linear power delivery that makes the Ingenium feel like the engine JLR engineered rather than the emissions-restrained variant.
Emission Compliance and Driveline Protection
Because this upgrade installs the factory 180PS calibration, the DPF regeneration strategy, EGR flow monitoring, lambda control, and SCR/AdBlue dosing remain exactly as JLR validated for the 180PS derivative. The vehicle continues to meet its original emission compliance obligations. The calibration retains the factory torque-limiter tables and the cooperative torque model that governs communication between the engine ECU and the transmission control module. JLR’s driveline protection strategy remains fully active.
Remote Installation and Ordering
We perform the upgrade remotely through the vehicle’s ENET diagnostic port using the JLR ENET WiFi adapter. No physical engine modifications are required. Select your model, model year, and ECU type at checkout. Our calibration team cross-checks the order against your VIN and ECU identification before releasing the factory 180PS file. You receive the calibration delivery, a vehicle-specific flashing guide, and direct engineering support throughout the process.
Convert your 150PS Ingenium to the factory 180PS specification. JLR calibration. OEM reliability. Full emission compliance. Reversible at any time.
